BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Please read the README.FIRST file - found at the root level of this server - 
for general information and instructions on unarchiving and uncompressing
files (files with the ".sit", ".hqx", ".zip", ".tar", and ".Z" extensions).

The README.BROCHURE also contains helpful descriptions of this and other
software offered on the ftp server.

IMAGE

This is the newest installation of the Image program.  We have added many new 
features to the program which we hope you will find useful. This is the 
official release of NCSA Image 3.1.1!  


NEW FEATURES

Options to publish and subscribe have been added to this new version of Image.


GENERAL NOTES

The source for Image 3.1.1 is not yet available.  The MPW C source for Image 2.0
is available however in the "Image2.0" directory.  Also included is Microsoft
Word documentation explaining the internal structure of the code and some notes
on Image 3.0.

The "misc"directory contains source code for example programs that communicate 
with NCSA Image 3.0 via the DTM mechanism.  These codes run on the Crays, but 
can easily be ported to other Unix platforms.


BUG NOTES

(1) Copy will sometimes give fuzzy images when you paste
	them back into image (occurs when the row width of
	the copied section or image is odd).
(2) The ruler and Protractor will not erase correctly
	with magnification sometimes.
(3) Printing images does not work.
