ANLCMMON Version 1.01 INTRODUCTION: ANLCMMON is an updated version of the CMonitor program from Phillips for control of CM microscopes. To run the program type ANLCMMON at the DOS prompt. The microscope device driver RCM.SYS must have been installed at bootup. The program should run on any IBM PC or compatible. Context sensitive help is usually available using the F1 key. The up and down arrows are used for selection with 'Enter' selecting the hilighted choice. If a mouse is installed, you can use it to operate the menus. Moving the mouse up and down will move the selection bar. The left mouse button emulates the 'Enter' key and the right mousebutton the 'Esc' key. You can run FAKECMON on a computer not connected to the microscope to see what the program is like. NEW IN THIS PROGRAM: (1) The new menuing system is a result of using a toolkit from Technojock Software Inc., P.O. Box 820927, Huston, Texas 77282-0827. If you wish to make changes and recompile, you may need TurboJock's Turbo ToolKit from this company. (2) You can now store all of the settings at once rather than doing three different saves for alignment, stigmator and mode. The settings will still be stored in three seperate files but you won't have to save them individually. (3) Files now have the suffix 'ALG', 'STG' and 'MOD' and 'LOG' rather than 'RCM' to indicate what is in them. You will have to rename your old 'RCM' files accordingly. You can tell what type of file it is by the length of the file: Alignment files are 5024 bytes long; Stigmator files are 1524 bytes long; Mode file are 268 bytes long; Log files are some other length. Use rename from the DOS prompt to change the names. e.g. to rename a 5024 byte long alignment file use 'RENAME MYFILE.RCM MYFILE.ALG'. The files resulting from saving everything have the suffix 'ALL'. The last two letters in the filename proper will be 'AL','ST' or 'MO' to distinguish them from each other. e.g. 'MYFILEST.ALL' is the stigmator file of the set 'MYFILEXX.ALL'. You can use any of the '.ALL' files to load all three. Note that the 1524 byte stigmator files contain all the stigmator settings, (condensor, objective & diffraction), but you can recall them individually under the recall settings option of the main menu. (4) The directory listing is more elaborate. Press F1 while it is showing to see your various options. (5) You can now choose baud rate and check if the program is communicating with the microscope from the communications menu. (6) Selection of 'microscope parameters' gives a readout of various microscope currents and vacuums. The screen will be updated when the spacebar is pressed or every time a set number of seconds counts down to zero. (7) You can use 'Blank the Screen' to darken the screen if the brightness is troublesome. FILES ON THIS DISK: README.TXT - this file. ANLCMMON.EXE - the only file you need to monitor the microscope, (assuming that the microscope driver is installed). FAKECMON.EXE - same as previous but modified so you don't need the microscope to run it. Use it to see what the program is like. ANLCMMON.PAS,FAKECMON.PAS - Pascal source code if you want to modify the above files. ???TTT5.TPU Files - TechnoJock Turbo ToolKit Units. These have been compiled under Turbo Pascal version 5.5. If you use another version of Turbo Pascal, you will need the source to re-compile these units. I am not allowed to distribute the source. The address was give previously. CM.TPU - I have combined the previous Include files into this unit. It is used with ANLCMMON.PAS. FAKECM.TPU - A unit which replaces CM.TPU in FAKECMON.PAS and fakes operations of the microscope. CM.PAS,FAKECM.PAS - Source code for the above two units. CONTACT: If you have questions or comments I can be reached at: Stan Ockers Building 212 Argonne National Laboratory 9700 S.
